Black Saturday 5K Honoring Dr. Jim Avant Scholarship Fund

Come out and support the Dr. Jim Avant Scholarship Endowment Fundraiser by participating in the annual Black Saturday 5K Run/Walk! This year the race will be held on Saturday, November 17th, beginning and ending at the newly built Leon Levine Hall. Dr. Avant was an integral part of our Appalachian Family, and without him, our Quinn Athletic Center would not exist. All proceeds from this 5K will go directly into a new scholarship fund for Appalachian State University Students. Early registration, on or before November 14, is $15 for students, and $20 for the public. Late registration is $25 for all. Registration can be completed online at active.com. All participants will receive an event T-shirt, as well as be eligible for door prizes! Music and refreshments will be awaiting participants at the end of their run/walk. For more information, visit 5k.appstate.edu. If you are not much of a runner, but would love to come volunteer for this wonderful cause, email Sherri Wilson at wilsonsl@appstate.edu."
